Client Win: When Patience Became Leverage

Client Win: When Patience Became Leverage

A recent client almost walked away from a home — and that’s exactly why they ended up getting it.

We submitted an offer well under list price on a property that had been sitting. The sellers countered, but the terms weren’t strong and didn’t align with what made sense for my client. Instead of pushing forward just to “keep the deal alive,” we paused and took a step back.

We were fully prepared to walk away.

And we did.

There was no chasing, no panic, and no overplaying our hand. Just a clear understanding of value, leverage, and what wasn’t worth forcing. We stayed steady and moved on, knowing that the right outcome wouldn’t require pressure.

Over the next few weeks, the listing agent circled back. And then again. And then again.

Eventually, the sellers came back and agreed to the price and terms we originally wanted.

This is a great example of how calm decision-making becomes a competitive advantage in today’s market. Being willing to walk away removes fear from the equation. It creates leverage without confrontation. And it allows decisions to be made from clarity rather than urgency.

Not every strong move is loud. Sometimes the strongest move is doing nothing — and letting the market meet you where you are.
