As we gear up for the busiest part of the selling season, there is one aspect you should never forgo or forget, a sewer scope. Even if you feel like you are the luckiest person in the world, don’t let the leprechaun get you on this one!
Let me tell you a story about why you NEED to get a sewer scope done during your inspection. Ok, don’t start rolling your eyes or scrolling past this post. I promise it’s going to be worth your time!
A few weeks ago, my buyers got their offer accepted (cue the celebratory dance 💃🏻), and it was off to scheduling inspections. Sewer scopes are oddly one of my favorite parts of the inspection process. A sewer scope is a super fun video of your sewer line from the home to the city connection.
So, why is this so satisfying and important?! Well, because sewer line repairs can be costly and crappy to deal with (😉 pun intended). We had my favorite sewer pros at Sewer Scope LLC meet us at the property.
The tech was unable to even get outside the home because there were too many turns in the line. For us to see the full length of the sewer, the sellers needed to install cleanouts.
Come to find out, the line has a massive belly in it. After several bids, the fix was estimated at $13K. What?!
The moral of the story is this $125 sewer scope saved my buyers a shit ton of money (again, pun intended!)
Always. Get. A. Sewer. Scope.
